Early Intervention: What does it all mean?

What is Early Intervention?

What is Early Intervention?

What is Early Intervention?

Early Childhood Intervention is a term that refers to providing extra developmental support and resources to children, including those that have developmental delays or disabilities. The goal  is to give families with these children assistance and support to maximize their child's development in many ways - physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally.

Support in the early years is the best way to help children develop the skills they need to take part in everyday activities. Sometimes children who receive early intervention need less, or no, support as they get older.

Accessing Help

What is Early Intervention?

What is Early Intervention?

If you are concerned about your child's development, talking to a professional is the best place to start. This could include your doctor, pediatrician, child health service or early childhood educator.

Your child does NOT need a diagnosis to access help. You can contact the NDIS early childhood partner for the Fraser Coast, BUSHkids, who can work with you to develop a plan to work on the delays in your child's development.

NDIS

What is Early Intervention?

What We Do

BUSHkids, the NDIS early childhood partner for the Fraser Coast, can work with you and your child (aged 0-9) to improve their development and help them reach their full potential. Where more intensive early intervention supports are required, the BUSHkids team will help you develop an NDIS Plan to access the funding your child needs on a more long-term basis.

(All BUSHkids services are provided free of charge.)

Early Interventions 4 Learning is a service provider for Self and Plan-Managed NDIS clients. We are not therapists, rather we work with you and your child providing developmental support and helping to build skills.

Your child is regularly monitored for progress and change during ongoing sessions. Activities are play-based, and as your child progresses, the activities evolve and change to become more challenging and developmentally appropriate.

We will collaborate with keyworkers and  others supporting your child, such as therapists, educators and caregivers, and can prepare reports to support NDIS requirements.

Why are sessions Play-Based ?

Children Gain Knowledge and Skills Through Play

Children Develop Confidence and a Positive Attitude to Learning

Through play children learn to think, remember, and solve problems. Play gives children the opportunity to explore, take risks and test their beliefs and knowledge about the world.

Play contributes to the growth of skills in all developmental areas - cognitive, physical, social, emotional, language and communication, as well as stimulating brain development.

Confidence helps a child develop the ability to try new things and take risks.

Play enables children to grasp concepts more easily because they are interested and engaged in what they are learning.

Play is motivating and fun! It also encourages independence in children's learning as they lead the way, being guided and extended by the teacher to grasp new concepts and develop skills.
